The primary goal of the Pharmacy Technician role is to provide exceptional support to pharmacists and contribute to the safe, efficient, and timely distribution of medications in the hospital.
This position plays a vital part in maintaining accurate inventory levels, performing billing functions, and ensuring that all work areas are organized and clean.
The Pharmacy Technician must possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and demonstrate initiative to achieve departmental goals. Additionally, this role requires flexibility to work on weekends and public holidays as needed.
Job Responsibilities- Daily Operations:
- Provide professional service to patients/customers
- Process medication orders/prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients
- Picking, packing, and labeling according to policies and procedures
- Perform billing functions
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pharmacy and ward areas
- Inventory Management:
- Ensure proper stock management according to First-Expiry-First-Out (FEFO) requirements
- Topping up omnicell ward stock in respective wards
- Verify correct receiving of goods
- Secondary repackaging/redressing
- Cycle counts and stock takes according to SOPs
- Dispensing:
- Dispense medications to patients according to policies and procedures
- Possess Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPTC) or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science
- Completed Basic Skill Test or Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPTC)
- Able to communicate effectively
- Able to function effectively as a member of a team
- Flexibility to work on weekends/public holidays occasionally
