CO2 Reduction Catalyst Developer

Electrochemical CO2 reduction is a promising area of research that aims to convert carbon dioxide into value-added chemicals and fuels.
A postdoctoral position as a Research Fellow is available in the group of Assistant Professor Yanwei LUM at the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering.
The primary goal of this project is to understand the electrochemical CO2 reduction mechanism to develop rationally designed catalysts.
As a Research Fellow, you will be expected to build model catalyst systems, investigate hypotheses, and validate existing theories.
You will also play an active role in guiding and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in the group.
- Regularly perform materials synthesis and characterization for the development of novel electrocatalysts.
- Prepare samples for electrocatalytic studies.
- Conduct electrochemical techniques to determine electrocatalyst performance.
- Perform product analysis and quantification using methods such as GC, HPLC, and NMR.
- Investigate mechanistic studies of electrochemical CO2 reduction mechanisms.
Candidates must have obtained a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, or related fields.
Applicants are required to possess the following skillsets:
- Materials synthesis for various solid inorganic materials as electrocatalysts through different synthesis procedures.
- A strong understanding and extensive experience in electrochemistry and electrocatalysis.
- Working knowledge and experience in GC, NMR, and HPLC.
- Experience in operando catalyst studies (e.g., in-situ Raman, FTIR, etc).
- At least 1-2 publications in top-tier journals (IF > 10).
