Research Scientist, Reasoning

We are seeking a skilled Research Scientist to join our team and contribute to cutting-edge research in reasoning and artificial general intelligence (AGI). As a member of our core team, you will work on developing innovative algorithms, models, and systems that push the boundaries of AI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct critical research in reinforcement learning (RL) and reasoning: propose new RL algorithms, scaling RL and/or inference time compute for improving Gemini.
  • Serve as launch/model captains: serve as launch/model captains and train models to directly contribute to Gemini landings.
  • Innovate and leapfrog: anticipate where the next game changers will come from and be always mindful about the next big research breakthroughs. Build research agendas based on new paradigms and execute on them.
  • Execute on research agenda: work as a team to execute on promising research agendas.
  • Collaborate with Gemini core teams: collaborate with other Gemini core teams that are mostly based in the US and UK.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Computer Science/any STEM related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong coding & engineering ability.
  • Relevant experience with large language models (LLMs).
  • Relevant experience with RL and reasoning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of impactful research or engineering.
  • Exceptional achievements in any domain (research, engineering or any others), normalized by circumstances.
