Position Overview

This role is centered on both domestic and international trademark analysis, management, and enforcement. You will oversee global trademark portfolios and assist in resolving trademark-related disputes. We are open to training enthusiastic candidates who possess strong strategic thinking, creative problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. A background in trademarks is advantageous but not mandatory.

Team Structure

You will work under the guidance of a Senior Brand Legal Counsel within the Asia, Middle East, and Africa (AMA) Legal Team located in Singapore. This position offers the chance to collaborate with a vibrant team of legal professionals who are strategic and business-oriented, working closely with our business partners to deliver exceptional value to consumers globally.

Success Metrics

Achieving success in this role will involve driving business outcomes in the AMA region by leveraging legal knowledge, practical business insights, innovative problem-solving, analytical thinking, and effective communication. You will provide clients with clear guidance on fundamental trademark matters while offering creative and practical business solutions.

Key Responsibilities :

Perform comprehensive online trademark searches and conduct related marketplace investigations to provide clear, business-oriented advice and risk assessments. Collaborate with both internal and external trademark attorneys and paralegals to manage an international trademark portfolio for various P&G business units, including directing and preparing numerous trademark applications, prosecution responses, and registration and renewal documents. Gather materials for and draft affidavits of use, simple cease and desist letters, responses to trademark office actions, online marketplace takedowns, oppositions, and other trademark and copyright enforcement activities. Support counsels in trademark enforcement across the region, addressing infringements, passing off, and counterfeits. Participate in Copy Approval Meetings for assigned categories, identifying trademark and copyright issues for business unit counsel to address. Manage trademark portfolios to ensure adequate protection in key markets, explore whitespace opportunities, and oversee trademark maintenance and renewals.

Additional Administrative Duties:

Organize meetings by coordinating schedules, managing logistics, and assisting in the preparation of meeting summaries and agendas, as well as distributing meeting materials. Update the internal trademarks database for prosecution, opposition, and other contentious matters. Prepare trademark reports for renewals and compile reports on contentious issues for sharing with business leadership. Liaise with Business Unit Finance regarding the processing of outside counsel fees, following up on payments and resolving issues with Accounts Payable. Manage electronic documentation for all trademark-related correspondence. Coordinate with external trademark agents and third-party service providers for back-office trademark tasks. Perform occasional administrative tasks such as preparing expense reports and addressing billing inquiries.

Qualifications

2-5 years of experience as a paralegal or in a similar in-house role. Basic understanding of trademarks, copyright, and other intellectual property and their relevance to marketing and branding. A passion for working in a multicultural, collaborative, and diverse environment. Exceptional interpersonal skills to persuade, influence, and adapt communication styles to various situations and individuals. Experience in intellectual property rights, particularly in brand protection, is preferred. Strong organizational skills. Flexibility and readiness to adapt to changing business needs. Innovative mindset, eager to introduce new ideas for improved efficiency and streamlined processes. Proficiency in Japanese, Korean, or Arabic is a plus, though not required. Familiarity with Excel, Power BI, and SharePoint is preferred.
