Job Description

The Senior Cost Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the successful execution of MEP projects by providing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, and administering contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for MEP projects
  • Analyze and evaluate project specifications to determine scope of work and associated costs

Quantity Take-off

  • Perform quantity take-offs for materials and labor required for MEP installations
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive quantity assessments

Budgeting and Cost-control

  • Develop and manage project budgets to ensure cost control throughout the project lifecycle
  • Monitor and report on cost variations, providing recommendations for cost-saving measures

Tendering and Procurement

  • Assist in the preparation of tender documents and participate in the procurement process
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitiveness and adherence to project requirements

Contract Administration

  • Administer and manage contracts related to MEP works, including variations and claims
  • Monitor contractual compliance and resolve disputes that may arise during the project

Value Engineering

  • Identify opportunities for value engineering to optimize project costs without compromising quality
  • Work closely with design and construction teams to implement value engineering recommendations

Risk Management

  • Identify and assess potential risks related to cost and contract issues
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure project success

Cost Reporting

  • Generate regular cost reports to keep stakeholders informed of project financial status
  • Provide analysis and recommendations based on cost reporting data

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other project stakeholders
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to the overall success of the project

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards in MEP construction
  • Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and best practices

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's in Quantity Surveying / Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University.

• Minimum 5 years of related working experiences in industrial, commercial or data-centre projects.

• Good working knowledge in Mechanical and Electrical.

• Organizational skill with attention to detail, adaptable and flexible.

• Good communication and facilitation skills.

• Ability to work well in a team, independently and demonstrate initiative and commitment.
