Accountant Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with 1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance to take on diverse responsibilities beyond core accounting tasks. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.

The role involves preparing financial statements and reports to support management decision-making, handling settlements for physical and financial commodity trades, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and performing KYC checks on counterparties in line with internal compliance policies and regulatory requirements.

Liaising with external auditors, banks, and other stakeholders as required, supporting process improvements and system enhancements within the finance function, and assisting with ad hoc projects and tasks to support the growth of the business are also key aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily accounting operations including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities
  • Prepare financial statements and reports to support management decision-making
  • Handle settlements for physical and financial commodity trades, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or commodities/trading firms
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Exposure to KYC, settlements, or trade finance processes is an advantage
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP/accounting systems preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach
