The role of a Medical Laboratory Technologist is critical in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for performing and supervising blood collection and dispatch of specimens to the laboratory, adhering to laboratory protocols and universal precautions.
You will also navigate the Laboratory Information System to perform functions such as order entry, sample receipt, result query, and result entry.
Collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including Lab, Nursing, Clinicians, and Admin teams, is essential to improve workflow and processes.
Key responsibilities include performing laboratory tests or POCT as assigned, following laboratory protocols, and alerting relevant personnel of critical values with proper documentation.
Additionally, you will undertake preventive maintenance on laboratory instrumentation and safety equipment, notifying personnel of malfunctions.
This role requires a BSc or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science, along with a minimum 5 years of experience in venipuncture for blood specimen collection and 3 years in clinical laboratory work.
At least 3 years of supervisory experience and basic computer skills, including proficiency in Laboratory Information System, are also necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications- BSc or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science
- Minimum 5 years of experience in venipuncture for blood specimen collection
- 3 years of clinical laboratory work experience
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Laboratory Information System
