Unix/Linux System Administration Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Unix/Linux system administrator to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Server Management: Install, configure and maintain Unix/Linux servers (RHEL) for optimal performance and security.
  • VMware Expertise: Manage, provision and support VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter.
  • System Monitoring: Perform system monitoring, performance tuning and capacity planning to ensure smooth operation.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain system security, patching and compliance in line with CIS benchmarks.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and networking issues, including application-to-database connectivity problems.
  • File System and Storage: File system and storage management, manage disk partitioning and logical volume management (LVM), including resizing and splitting mount points.
  • Automation: Automate routine tasks using shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) or configuration management tools.
  • Backup and Recovery: Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for Unix and VMware systems.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with application teams to support deployments, upgrades and system migrations.
  • Documentation: Document system configurations, procedures and troubleshooting steps.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, etc.).
  • Experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and change management processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification.
  • Linux Administration Certification (e.g., RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux+).
