Electrical Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Electrical Specialist to join our team.

  • ELECTRICAL WORKS: Perform electrical works and maintenance tasks onboard vessels, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems.
  • AUTHORISED PERSONNEL: Assist in guiding onboard service engineers on tasks requiring electrical competencies, promoting efficient operation and maintenance of electrical/electronic/electro-hydraulic/electro-pneumatic/automation systems.
  • TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIR: Carry out termination works, trouble-shooting 4-stroke generator safety systems, and electrical governors, providing value-added services.
  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: Advise customers and supervisors on the need for shore assistance or spare parts procurement in case of equipment failures or defects.
  • ONBOARD REPORTS: Collaborate with service managers to conduct onboard attendance, provide work-done reports, and submit them accordingly.
  • MARINE ALTERNATORS: Experience in maintaining marine alternators is an asset, as is annual calibration of cargo tanks temperature and pressure sensors, manifold pressure gauges, and identifying areas for improvement.
About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical works and maintenance tasks onboard vessels, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems. This includes:

  • Performing electrical works and maintenance tasks onboard vessels
  • Assisting in guiding onboard service engineers on tasks requiring electrical competencies
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, including 4-stroke generator safety systems and electrical governors
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Technical Certificate
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the Marine Electrical Industry
  • Hands-on experience working onboard sea-going vessels as ETO (Electrical-Technical Officers)
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and fault diagnosis related to electrical, instrumentation, automation, and control systems, including air conditioning and ventilation systems
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings (electrical and pneumatic)
  • Familiar with regulatory and legislative shipping industry environment
Working Conditions

This role requires a high level of physical fitness and ability to work at heights. You will also need to be able to communicate effectively with office technical teams and shipboard teams.

Please note that this is a highly specialized role and only candidates with extensive experience in the Marine Electrical Industry will be considered.
