Research Associate - Histopathology

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team in delivering high-quality histopathology research resources that support impactful cancer research.

  • Liaise with tumour board leaders, sub-specialty pathologists, and pathology diagnostic lab staff to identify suitable consented cases for research projects.
  • Verify consent status and retrieve sample accession numbers using pathology systems to facilitate smooth project execution.
  • Collaborate with research pathologists to collect research blocks, assist in tissue processing, sectioning, and staining for quality control before inventory and storage.
  • Utilize search systems to identify cases for Tissue Microarray (TMA) construction.
  • Support sub-specialty pathologists in generating case lists, retrieving blocks and slides, and preparing new sections when required.
  • Maintain updated records of TMA construction requests to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Retrieve relevant clinical data from databases for legacy tissue TMAs.
  • Collaborate with data teams for TMAs from consented tissues.
  • Coordinate with Principal Investigators for TMAs linked to study protocols.
  • Provide histological services to team members as needed.
  • Facilitate consent and prospective sample collection for biopsy, organoid, and PDX development.
  • Perform other ad-hoc laboratory duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
  • Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, or related field.
  • Experience in histopathology, tissue handling, or TMA construction is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with pathology information systems preferred.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Good interpersonal skills for liaising with stakeholders.
  • Commitment to research ethics and safety standards.
