About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Biometric Systems Research Scientist to join our esteemed research team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading cutting-edge research and development of secure and privacy-preserving multimodal biometric authentication systems for mobile devices using federated learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct in-depth research on advanced federated learning methodologies for multimodal biometric authentication on mobile devices, emphasizing innovative privacy-preserving techniques and real-world deployment strategies.
  • Design, develop, and evaluate robust federated models that operate under positive-label-only constraints on local devices, focusing on scenarios where user templates are authentic and unimodal/multimodal verification must be resistant against spoofing or deepfakes.
  • Closely collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) to execute the project's comprehensive research plan, including thorough literature reviews, algorithm design, experiment setup, model training, evaluation, benchmarking, and presentation of results.
  • Supervise and guide undergraduate or graduate student assistants in data collection, software development, and research experiments, fostering their growth as researchers.
  • Contribute significantly to the development of working prototypes and demonstrations for mobile biometric systems utilizing federated learning architectures, showcasing the feasibility and effectiveness of these solutions.
  • Prepare meticulous research documentation, including technical reports, conference/journal papers, and research grant progress updates, ensuring clarity and precision in communication.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field with a strong research focus in machine learning, biometrics, or mobile computing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in federated learning, privacy-preserving machine learning, or distributed AI systems, as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in relevant top-tier conferences or journals.
  • Familiarity with biometric authentication systems, especially involving multimodal signals such as face, voice, and fingerprint recognition.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks commonly used in ML research, such as Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and mobile development environments (e.g., Android Studio or Swift/Xcode).
