Emotional Wellbeing Counsellor

Join our dynamic team as we seek a skilled and compassionate counsellor to support the emotional wellbeing of students. As a key member of our pastoral care team, you will play a pivotal role in helping students navigate challenging situations and develop resilience.

In this rewarding position, you will work closely with students, parents, and staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment. You will have a deep understanding of child development, emotional well-being, and behavioural management strategies, as well as experience in delivering social-emotional learning programs.

If you have a strong ability to develop and sustain productive relationships within and beyond the school community, and can effectively respond to sensitive and complex student issues within an ethical framework, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years full-time, supervised experience working with children and/or young people in a counselling or pastoral care role. A degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field would be advantageous, as would professional membership or credentials that meet the criteria for professional membership of a state/national counselling association.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement student support programs and services for students with high support needs.
  • Provide leadership that enables the effective delivery of whole-of-school educational programs and services that support the inclusion of all students.
  • Counselling and individual case management involving a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Effective response to sensitive and complex student issues within an ethical framework.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures related to child protection.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural school environment and adapt counselling approaches to diverse student needs.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three (3) years full-time, supervised experience working with children and/or young people in a counselling or pastoral care role.
  • A degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Professional membership or credentials that meet the criteria for professional membership of a state/national counselling association.
