Job Summary

This role is responsible for overseeing the technical operations of vessels, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of marine engineering systems, class/flag regulations, and tanker operations.

About the Role

  • Manage and support the technical operations of assigned vessels, including planning and managing dry-docking, repairs, and technical inspections.
  • Monitor vessel performance, machinery condition, and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure optimal efficiency and safety.
  • Liaise with ship captains and chief engineers to resolve technical issues and provide operational support, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Evaluate and manage budgets for vessel operations and maintenance, making informed decisions to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Collaborate with procurement and vendors to source spares, services, and supplies, optimizing procurement processes.
  • Participate in audits, investigations, and follow-up on corrective actions, driving continuous improvement and quality assurance.
  • Provide guidance to onboard engineering teams to ensure competency and high performance, fostering a culture of excellence and professional development.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated seagoing experience as Chief Engineer or relevant experience as Technical Superintendent.
  • Strong understanding of marine engineering systems, class/flag regulations, and tanker operations, with ability to apply knowledge in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English, with ability to understand and interpret complex technical information.
  • High standards of integrity, accountability, and professionalism, with commitment to upholding company values and principles.
