Job Overview

The role of a Mechanical Systems Specialist is to ensure the seamless installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems onboard marine and offshore vessels. This involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to verify that all installations and systems meet specifications, safety, and operational requirements.

  • Inspect mechanical drawings (P&IDs, general arrangements), specifications, and equipment manuals to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Verify bolting, torque, lubrication, and fluid levels prior to equipment start-up to prevent mechanical issues.
  • Collaborate with electrical and piping teams during system integration testing to ensure smooth operation.
  • Conduct functional and performance testing on mechanical systems and equipment to identify any defects or areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical faults and non-conformities in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, readings, and commissioning documentation to facilitate future reference and improvement.

Requirements
  • A certificate in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical commissioning within marine/offshore environments.
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems, mechanical equipment, and marine machinery.
  • Familiarity with static and rotating equipment, lifting gear, and system testing procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • A willingness to work in yard or offshore environments with shift duties.
