Job Opportunity in Nutritional Analysis and Research

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join the laboratory of A/Prof Yusuf Ali. The role involves developing and implementing methods for assessing the nutritional profiles and safety of new crop strains, contributing to the university's mission of advancing public health and sustainability through innovative agricultural practices.

We are looking for a talented individual with a strong background in biological sciences, nutrition, or a related field. The ideal candidate will possess excellent laboratory skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic research team.

About the Role
  • Design and execute in vivo and in vitro experiments to assess the nutritional profiles and safety of new crop strains
  • Perform molecular biology and bacterial culture assays and experiments to support research objectives
  • Conduct animal studies with germ-free and conventional mice to evaluate the impact of dietary interventions on host-microbiome interactions
  • Diet-host relationship and experience in plant-based diets will be advantageous
  • Contribute to research grant writing, including literature review and preliminary data
  • Contribute to research deliverables, including manuscript writing, attending local and/or international conferences
  • Mentor and supervision of undergraduate/ PhD students and junior research staff
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • PhD in Biological Sciences, Food Science, or a related field
  • Strong background in nutritional analysis, food safety, and data integration methods
  • Proficiency in relevant laboratory techniques and data analysis software
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
