The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the course IN6242 Deep Learning Foundations as part of our MSc in Information Systems (MSIS) programme.

Course Overview

The course aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of machine learning and deep learning methods for developing neural network models from scratch using a programming language. Students will learn the essential mathematics and programming skills necessary for creating basic neural networks and deep learning models.

  • Key Topics:
  • Linear algebra, calculus, probability, statistics, algorithms, and data structures

The course format consists of a three-hour weekly session that comprises lectures, tutorials and/or seminar discussions. The instructor will be responsible for leading each three-hour session in addition to syllabus planning, class preparation, marking for assessment and student consultation.

Requirements
  • Masters degree or higher; a PhD holder is preferred
  • Background in computer science, information systems, information science, or related discipline is strongly preferred
