IT Leadership Position

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled IT professional to fill the role of Senior Associate Director.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in strategic IT planning, infrastructure management, and team leadership. They will be responsible for developing and implementing IT strategies that align with our research goals, overseeing the planning, deployment, and maintenance of our IT infrastructure, and ensuring scalability, reliability, and security compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement IT strategies that align with our research goals and objectives.">
• Oversee planning, deployment, and maintenance of our IT infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security compliance.">
• Manage CQT IT resources, data storage solutions, and networking infrastructure to support the centre.">
• Ensure the security and integrity of research data through robust data management policies and practices.">
• Collaborate with researchers to understand IT requirements and provide solutions to enhance research capabilities.">
• Facilitate adoption of emerging technologies and tools that advance quantum research.">
• Provide technical expertise in development and deployment of Centre applications and software.">
• Ensure compliance with university policies, data protection regulations, and funding agency requirements.">
• Lead and mentor a team of CQT IT professionals, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.">
• Liaise with other departments, faculty, and external partners to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and resource sharing.">
• Oversee technical support for CQT research staff, admin, and students, ensuring timely resolution of IT issues.">

Qualifications and Skills

• ">
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.">
• Minimum 7 years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.">
• Experience managing research computing environments, HPC clusters, and/or scientific data storage is strongly preferred.">
• Proven track record in designing, deploying, and supporting robust, scalable, and secure IT infrastructure in large, complex organizations.">
• Strong leadership abilities with experience building, developing, and managing multidisciplinary IT teams.">
• Project management including requirements, budgeting, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication.">
• Experience in policy development, risk management, and IT audits or compliance reviews.">
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical information for diverse stakeholders.">
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, research partners, and external vendors.">
