The role involves analyzing fuel oil and gasoil markets to provide fundamental and quantitative insights. This information supports trading decisions by delivering timely analysis of market trends, supply/demand balances, price forecasts, and arbitrage opportunities across regional and global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze global and regional supply-demand trends for VLSFO, HSFO, and gasoil.
- Track refinery runs, product yields, shipping trends, and crude slate impacts.
- Maintain databases and models of fuel oil and gasoil balances, inventories, and trade flows.
- Track spot and forward curves for relevant benchmarks.
- Analyze refining margins and crack spreads.
- Identify pricing dislocations and arbitrage opportunities between regions.
- Forecast market outlooks, price forecasts, and trading signals.
- Collaborate with trading desks to assess market positioning and risk.
- Contribute to internal research publications and presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Energy, Engineering, Finance, or related fields.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in oil market analysis, trading, or research in the oil trading sector.
- Strong knowledge of refined products, especially fuel oil and gasoil.
- Excellent Excel and data analysis skills.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, or Power BI is a plus.
- Experience with Platts, Argus, Bloomberg, or Kpler data.
- Understanding of shipping markets (VLCC, MR, bunkering).
