Digital Graphics Journalist Job Opportunity

This role involves creating visually engaging stories for the newsroom, utilizing data visualizations and a variety of formats to convey information.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with experience in journalism and reporting. They should be comfortable working in at least two areas: journalism/reporting; data visualization/design; front-end web development; or data analysis programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging visual stories for the newsroom using data visualizations and various formats.
  • Conduct investigative journalism/research with journalists using data, including finding/verifying data sources.
  • Use statistics and data science tools for data parsing, scraping, and wrangling.
  • Manage workflow and process for data-driven and visual stories in the newsroom.
  • Analyze stories and propose changes to workflow and concepts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, graphic design, data science, statistics, or computer science.
  • Experience in journalism and reporting, including internships.
  • Comfortable in at least two areas: journalism/reporting; data visualization/design; front-end web development; or data analysis programming.
