Underwater Operations Specialist

The role of Underwater Operations Specialist plays a pivotal part in the maritime industry, responsible for performing critical topside and underwater rigging operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting complex topside and underwater rigging operations.
  • Understanding and following directions/orders from lead divers/supervisors and reporting any medical problems or symptoms experienced during or after the dive.
  • Setting up and operating equipment as directed by the diving supervisor.
  • Identifying and reporting equipment faults, potential hazards, near misses, or accidents.
  • Participating in hazard identification and risk assessment.
  • Practicing safe diving techniques that comply with industry policies and procedures.
  • Adhering to quality, health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring full understanding of the dive plan and competence to carry out the planned task, as well as routine and emergency procedures.
  • Verifying personal diving equipment is working correctly and suitable for the planned dive.
  • Complying with SS511: Diving at Work, as well as rules and regulations on safety and work methods while working in customers' work sites.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in maritime operations and knowledge of diving support equipment are advantageous.
  • Possessing knowledge of industry requirements for diving equipment.
  • Able to wear a commercial diving hat weighing 25-30lbs for approximately 4 hours daily and lift 50lbs repetitively.
  • Capable of working under harsh weather conditions.
  • Willing to work on remote or distant projects as needed for several days at a time.
  • Candidate must possess an approved medical certificate and current logbook containing a photograph and diver's name.
  • Possessing a valid diver certification in compliance with SS511: Diving at Work Prerequisites.
  • Selected candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check to be legally authorized to work.
