Job Title: Learning Support Professional

Job Description

  • As a key member of our teaching team, you will play a crucial role in supporting teachers to provide quality learning experiences for students with disabilities. You will work collaboratively with educators to develop lesson plans, prepare learning environments, and assist students during lessons.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining classroom environments, facilities, and resources to maximize student engagement. This includes preparing materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring that the learning environment is safe and conducive to learning.
  • Another critical aspect of this role is supporting students' holistic development. You will build strong relationships with students, providing them with a sense of security and stability. You will also work closely with teachers to observe student progress and identify areas where additional support may be needed.
  • In addition, you will collaborate with allied professionals and stakeholders to plan and execute development strategies for students. This may involve working with occupational therapists, psychologists, and other specialists to ensure that students receive comprehensive support.
  • Finally, you will have opportunities to develop your skills and expertise as a professional through regular training and reflection. You will review and reflect on your teaching practice to seek improvement in your competencies and contribute to the ongoing professional development of the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A Higher NITEC in a related field is preferred but not mandatory. However, relevant experience working with students with disabilities is highly valued.
  • Physical stamina is required as the role may involve lifting and carrying students and equipment. You must also prioritize the health and safety of students at all times.
