Infrastructure Specialist

The role of Infrastructure Specialist is a vital one in the success of our organization. This position oversees the operations, maintenance, and scalability of our data centre infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of physical and virtualized computing environments.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage data centre infrastructure including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure 24/7 uptime.
  • Implement and maintain high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Perform regular maintenance activities including patching, firmware updates, and hardware lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure data centre compliance with security policies and standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, and services.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues promptly.
  • Lead or support data centre migration, expansion, or modernization projects.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure design, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience managing enterprise infrastructure or data center environments.
  • Proficiency with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with Windows, Linux (RedHat) operating systems and systems hardening.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g., switching, routing, firewalls).
  • Experience with enterprise storage systems (SAN, NAS).
  • Familiarity with data centre power, UPS, and physical security systems.
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, vCenter).
  • Excellent troubleshooting skill and documentation skills.

Work Environment:

  • Participation in an on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support.
