ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute is a leading research centre dedicated to the study of socio-political, security and economic trends and developments in Southeast Asia and its wider geostrategic and economic development.

**Job Description**

We are seeking an Academic Research Fellow to conduct research projects on various themes related to Southeast Asia. The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in an area of the humanities or social sciences and demonstrate expertise in political science, economics, sociology, demography, or business studies.

The Visiting Fellow will be responsible for conducting one or two projects related to the following themes:

  • New Trends in Campaign Tactics
  • Malaysia's Foreign Policy
  • Malaysia's Transition to a Green Economy
  • The Peninsular North
  • Future of Malay-based Political Parties
  • Political Islam
  • Political Developments in Sabah

**Responsibilities**

Depending on the expertise of the candidate, he or she will be contributing to ISEAS in the following ways:

  • Writing for a range of research products for the Institute such as Fulcrum commentaries, ISEAS Perspectives, and ISEAS Trends
  • Monitoring economic, political and/or social trends in Malaysia/Southeast Asia
  • Where relevant, contributing to ISEAS's collective research efforts

**Requirements**

Applicants should have a PhD degree in an area of the humanities or social sciences (especially political science/government, economics, sociology, demography, or business studies). Alternatively, applicants with a Masters' degree and commensurate experience in government, the private sector, think tanks or civil society organizations are also invited to apply.

**Fellowship Benefits**

The Fellowship provides an all-inclusive and fixed monthly stipend commensurate with qualifications and experience. A monthly housing subsidy is applicable to non-Singaporeans only and those based in Singapore.

**How to Apply**

Applications should include a Cover Letter, a full CV, two Reference Letters, and a Research Plan. Research Plans should be 2-3 pages in length and address the research question, methodology, as well as timeline and expected output.
