Automation Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Specialist to design, integrate, and maintain automated systems for ship repair applications. You will lead the implementation of robotics, PLCs, and other technologies to improve efficiency, safety, and accuracy in shipyard operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Program Robotic Systems: Design and program robotic systems, PLCs, and automated solutions for shipyard tasks.
  • Integrate Automation: Integrate automation with existing shipyard infrastructure.
  • Prepare Technical Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Maintain and Troubleshoot Machinery: Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot automated machinery.
  • Provide Technical Training: Provide technical training and support to operators.
  • Improve System Performance: Analyze system performance and implement process improvements.

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in automation, robotics, electrical, or mechanical engineering, as well as hands-on experience in industrial robotics (ABB, KUKA, FANUC) and PLC programming.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with knowledge of communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET) and marine repair processes (welding, painting, NDT), are essential for this role.

The ability to work in physically demanding shipyard conditions is also required.
