Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Care Assistant to join our healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our residents, promoting their wellbeing and enhancing their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume shift or night duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assist in wound management, tracking progress and reporting to Nursing Officers to ensure effective wound outcome.
  • Pack, prepare and administer oral medication, topical applications and subcutaneous injections with precision and attention to detail.
  • Support Nursing Officers during nursing rounds, preparing necessary documents and ensuring seamless communication with Allied Health Professionals.
  • Arrange transportation and accompany residents to medical appointments, prioritizing their comfort and safety.
  • Prepare and arrange dressing trolleys, maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.
  • Ensure medical supplies and consumables are sufficient, preventing stockouts and minimizing waste.
  • Tidy up the clinic, including Treatment room and Medication room, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Serve and feed residents on Nasogastric / PEG tube, respecting their dignity and nutritional needs.
  • Supervise and assist care staff in handling toileting needs, such as bathing, transferring and commode assistance.
  • Perform daily bladder washout for residents with Indwelling catheter, following established procedures.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
  • Attend to emails, telephone calls and phone messages, maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Record cash donations and/or donations-in-kind in the record book, accurately documenting transactions.
  • Participate in COVID clearance tests, such as ART, and assist in migrating computer digitalisation when necessary.
  • Document patient information in the Care Management System, ensuring timely and accurate recording.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by CNO and Senior Staff Nurse, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt.Required Skills and Qualifications

    Skills Required:

    • Assessing and caring for residents with various healthcare needs.
    • Working effectively with Allied Health Professionals, including Dietitian and Speech Therapist.
    • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
    • Providing excellent communication skills, listening actively and responding empathetically.
    • Nursing care and basic home care skills.
