Chrome Plating Technician

Job Description:

As a skilled Chrome Plating Technician, you will be responsible for performing high-quality chrome plating operations on marine diesel engine components. Your expertise will be utilized to restore worn-out or damaged grooves to OEM specifications using precision machining and plating techniques.

The successful candidate will have the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine plating requirements and tolerances. Additionally, they will be able to carry out pre-treatment and post-treatment procedures such as degreasing, masking, grinding, and polishing.

A key aspect of this role is ensuring consistent plating thickness and adhesion quality using specialized instruments. Collaboration with engineering and machining teams is also essential to troubleshoot and resolve technical plating issues.

Effective documentation of plating processes, inspection records, and quality reports is crucial for maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven 3-5 years of experience in hard chrome plating, ideally in marine, aerospace, or heavy machinery sectors
  • Strong knowledge of electroplating principles, chemicals, and safety standards
  • Familiarity with marine diesel engine components and their functions
  • Ability to operate precision tools and measuring instruments (micrometers, gauges, etc.)
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, defect-free finishes
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
