Job Title: Photonics Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Photonics Research Scientist. The successful candidate will have a strong background in photonics, electron sources, and vacuum chamber design.

The role of the Photonics Research Scientist will focus on designing and implementing experiments that combine free electron sources with nanophotonics concepts. The ultimate goal is to realize compact, efficient extreme ultraviolet (EUV) sources for applications including EUV spectroscopy and nanolithography.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Implementation: Design and implement experiments involving free electron-driven generation of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) radiation.
  • EUV Characterization: Characterize the EUV properties of nanostructures and use these nanostructures in experiments to demonstrate enhanced EUV emission.
  • Publishing and Presenting: Lead papers and publish in high-impact journals, present at top-tier international conferences.
  • Team Support: Assist PI in writing grants, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, provide logistical support pertaining to laboratory operation.

Requirements:

  • PhD Degree: PhD degree in physics, mathematics, engineering or related field.
  • Photonics Background: Strong background in photonics as well as in the use of electron sources, such as DC and RF electron guns, as well as the design and handling of vacuum chambers.
  • Free-Electron Instrumentation: Prior exposure to free-electron-based instrumentation, such as scanning electron microscopes, transmission electron microscopes.
  • Electromagnetic Simulations: Working knowledge of electromagnetic simulations.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and oral communication skills, competent in teamwork and presenting results in informative visuals.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work under pressure, ability to work independently, develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details, excellent organizational / time management skills.
