Job Title:

Trade Finance Specialist – Banking Operations

Our client, a well-established bank with a strong regional and international presence, is seeking a Trade Finance Specialist to join their Operations team. This role manages end-to-end processing of Import & Export Bills transactions to ensure operational compliance, accuracy, and efficiency while supporting customers and contributing to process improvements.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in a related field and at least 3 years of experience in handling all trade finance products, including Letters of Credit (L/C), Guarantees (L/G), collections, invoice financing, bill discounting, forfeiting, etc.

Responsibilities:
  • To ensure proper processing of Trade Finance transactions according to procedures set out in the operational manual, thoroughly checking supporting documents, obtaining approval of transactions, inputting trade transactions into the system, passing relevant accounting entries if any.
  • To process remittance transactions, i.e., MT202, MT103, MEPS008, MEPS009, etc.
  • To respond professionally to existing and potential customers' queries on products and services.
  • To keep proper records of Trade Finance transactions and ensure all transaction documents are filed in order.
  • To construct SWIFT messages for relevant Trade Finance products and Services.
  • To promptly discuss with or seek advice from superiors regarding handling exceptions of Trade Finance transactions or any other duties.
  • To prepare daily reports, monthly report, MAS, and ad-hoc reports of Trade Finance transactions.
  • To assist in updating existing Import & Export Bills Operations Manual.
  • To ensure all outstanding or pending transactions are followed up closely.
  • Participate in system enhancements/testing/projects/BCP assigned.
  • To retrieve all incoming SWIFT messages, record the SWIFT Incoming Register, and distribute to appropriate parties for action.
  • Acknowledge receipt of IEB incoming SWIFT and distribution of daily transactions.
  • Process customer internet banking.
  • Perform loan processing/administration duties in fixed deposits and corporate loans (syndication/bilateral loan, loan booking, etc.), personal loans, safekeeping of original documents, and collaterals.
  • Handle and process daily treasury settlement and clearing transactions.


Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in a related field and at least 3 years of experience in handling all trade finance products, including Letters of Credit (L/C), Guarantees (L/G), collections, invoice financing, bill discounting, forfeiting, etc.
