Job Title: Business Analyst Role in Energy Market Analysis

About the Position:
This role plays a pivotal part in providing high-quality market analysis to support trading decisions across the organization's global Trading & Shipping business.

Main Responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain and enhance global supply-demand models for crude oil and refined products. Collaborate with the data scientist to integrate new/alternative datasets and improve forecasting accuracy. Ensure transparency, documentation and version controls of fundamental models and assumptions.• Deliver timely, actionable insights to facilitate discussions on market fundamentals and inform decision making. Drive engagement with traders and commercial analysts to help formulate views on market direction and identify trading opportunities.• Track and analyze micro and macro trends that may impact physical and financial oil markets to perform forecasts. Monitor refinery developments and outages, weather forecasts, sanctions, OPEC+ decisions, feedstock economics, macroeconomic trends, inventory levels, amongst others.• Contribute to the delivery of the Data Analytics Roadmap by collaborating with the Data Product and Data Science Team to build out end-to-end data analytics capabilities.• Engage with Trading and Shipping, Strategy, Business Development, or other parts of the organization to share market developments and insights through various platforms and channels. Perform topical analysis and support ad-hoc data requests. Analyze competitors' activities into Australia and New Zealand, and in other geographies as required through ship tracking and other market intelligence.•

Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is essential. A minimum of 3-5 years of market analysis experience, preferably in an oil trading environment, is also necessary. Strong analytical capability and self-starter qualities are crucial, along with excellent communication skills and ability to engage traders and lead discussions. Commitment to deliver continuous improvement and enhance existing analysis is also expected.• High level understanding of business drivers and key areas of influence is required, as well as excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise and work in a changing environment. Ability to manage complex and technical arguments, willingness to share knowledge and guide others in the team, and collaborative team player skills are also valuable assets.
