Meat Cutter Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Meat Cutter to join our team. The ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of meat cuts, preparation techniques, and food safety standards.

The Meat Cutter will be responsible for cutting, trimming, deboning, and preparing various types of meats (beef and lamb) for sale while ensuring high-quality customer service and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cut, trim, debone, and prepare different types of meats (beef & lamb) according to specifications.
  • Ensure all meat products are stored, handled, and displayed in compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Weigh, package, label, and price meat products for retail sale.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations, tools, and equipment.
  • Provide expert recommendations to customers on meat selection, storage, and cooking methods.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering stock to ensure product availability.
  • Adhere to company policies, health, and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Assist in minimizing waste by utilizing proper cutting and portioning techniques.
  • Train and mentor junior staff members when required.
Requirements

Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Butcher or in a similar meat-cutting role.
  • Strong knowledge of meat quality, cuts, and preparation techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to hygiene and safety standards.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Physically fit and able to handle heavy lifting (meat carcasses, equipment, etc.).
  • Certification in food hygiene and safety is an advantage.
