Job Title: Senior Fitness Specialist

Job Description:

As a Senior Fitness Specialist, you will be responsible for leading strength training programmes for seniors at our gym.

  • You will conduct onboarding sessions for new participants, including assessments and equipment orientation.
  • You will guide seniors through personalized strength training programmes tailored to their physical condition, age, and fitness level.
  • You will supervise sessions to ensure safety, proper equipment use, and correct exercise form.
  • You will develop and adapt exercise plans based on our gym's protocols and individual needs.
  • You will ensure the gym environment is safe, senior-friendly, and conducive for training.
  • You will perform daily checks and report maintenance issues related to our equipment.
  • You will monitor participants for signs of fatigue, discomfort, or injury and respond promptly.
  • You will encourage seniors to participate in our programme through outreach and one-on-one engagement.
  • You will address concerns or hesitations and help participants build confidence in exercising.
  • You will motivate and provide constructive feedback to participants while tracking their progress.
  • You will manage appointment scheduling for all participants.
  • You will track and update attendance, missed sessions, and follow-up appointments.
  • You will conduct pre- and post-programme assessments using our gym's protocols.
  • You will regularly update training profiles and adjust programmes based on individual progress.
  • You will submit participation and outcome reports to management.
  • You will work with our team to integrate our programme into wider senior wellness initiatives.
  • You will provide feedback to enhance programme effectiveness based on observations and participant feedback.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or certification in fitness, sports science, or a related field.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain).

Experience:

  • Experience working with older adults, including frail seniors or those with chronic conditions, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with strength/resistance training equipment in a community or rehab setting is an advantage.

  • Empathetic, patient, and passionate about working with the elderly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage with seniors from diverse backgrounds.
  • Physically fit and able to demonstrate exercises and assist seniors when needed.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications for record-keeping.
  • Problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a team.
