About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Biotechnologist II to join our team at Roche. As a key member of our Biochemical Manufacturing Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient production of high-quality biotechnology products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety, Health & Environment:

    • Comply with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations and guidelines.
    • Report any workplace accidents, near misses, or hazards to the relevant authorities.

  • Lean Production System:

    • Embody the principles of the Lean Production System and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Support the Biochemical Manufacturing Department in achieving its goals and objectives.
    • Perform tasks such as preparing equipment, cleaning and sterilizing vessels, preparing solutions, monitoring and operating biochemical processing equipment, raw materials sampling, dispensing, and environmental monitoring sampling.
    • Prioritize tasks and document work according to approved manufacturing formulae.
    • Troubleshoot equipment and process problems.
    • Support process improvement efforts.
    • Operate computers for process control and data entry.
    • Participate in staff and shift change meetings and work closely with other shift personnel and external support groups.
    • Ensure all assigned tasks are performed safely and report any incidents or near misses.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Life Sciences or Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of related working experience for diploma equivalent holders with a combination of education and relative work experience.
  • Good problem-solving, interpersonal communication, and team skills.
  • Self-starter with a strong focus on safety, quality, details, and results.
  • Ability to work weekends, off-shifts, and overtime as required.
  • Ability to carry heavy loads of up to 25kg.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with computer-based systems are highly desirable.
  • Background in microbiology, fermentation, or protein purification is desired.
