Job Title:

Clinical Laboratory Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-complexity testing according to established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for molecular diagnostic techniques.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biomedical sciences or life sciences, with familiarity with molecular diagnostics techniques. They will also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing high-complexity testing according to established SOPs for molecular diagnostic techniques
  • Receiving, requisitioning, processing, and ensuring proper identification of specimens and chain of custody
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical problems as needed
  • Participating in technical and clinical verification and validation studies
  • Participating in internal and external quality assurance programs
  • Maintaining strict quality standards according to laboratory accreditation and licensing requirements
  • Performing, recording, and interpreting results of quality control procedures and taking corrective action where necessary

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with molecular diagnostics techniques, including handling of patient samples, nucleic acid extraction, real-time PCR, genotyping, and sequencing
  • Willingness to undergo training, including MT(ASCP) certification and California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license exam
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Fully vaccinated status against COVID-19
