Job Overview

  • We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our team at The GMP Group.

Job Description

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in operating laboratory information systems, managing specimen movement, and performing basic testing.
  • They should also be able to maintain laboratory equipment, respond to customer inquiries, and escalate issues to senior staff when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the Laboratory Information System to perform tasks such as order entry, sample receipt, result query, and result entry.
  • Sort and arrange specimens for dispatch to the correct benches, perform simple processing and sorting.
  • Manage specimen movement for in-house and send-out tests, ensuring specimens are packed according to test catalogues.
  • Respond to customer inquiries at reception, escalating issues to senior staff when unclear.
  • Perform basic rapid testing, adhere to laboratory protocols.
  • Alert laboratory personnel of critical values.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, notify personnel of malfunctions.
  • Notify personnel when test kits, reagents, or supplies need re-ordering.
  • Report adverse incidents to senior staff.
  • Perform shift duties as required.
  • Stay updated with new instrumentation, techniques, and procedures through workshops, seminars, and in-service education classes.
  • Resolve customer queries promptly.
  • Carry out instructions from senior staff regarding work procedures and duties.
  • Comply with all requirements of the Laboratory Safety Manual.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science or related subject.
  • Preferably with relevant clinical laboratory experience.
  • Candidates without experience are welcome to apply.
