Collaborative Robotics Research Fellow

Our team is seeking a skilled and motivated Research Fellow to contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies in collaborative robotics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in robotics, motion planning, and control, as well as experience working with industrial or collaborative robotic arms.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a talented researcher to advance their career in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a Research Fellow, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers to develop novel solutions for human-robot interaction.

  • Design and implement real-time multi-objective motion planning algorithms to enable expressive-functional robot trajectories in collaborative robotic systems.
  • Conduct experiments to validate the framework across coexistence, sequential collaboration, cooperation, and collaboration scenarios.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers in robotics, AI, and human factors.
  • Contribute to high-quality research publications, conference presentations, and reports.
  • Support the supervision of graduate students and research assistants involved in the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement motion planning algorithms that enable robots to understand and respond to human emotions.
  • Validate the framework through experiments and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with the research team to integrate new technologies and approaches into the project.
  • Contribute to the development of new research directions and initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • PhD in a relevant field such as Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related area.
  • Strong background in robotics motion planning and control, familiarity with trajectory optimization for single- and/or dual-arm cobots.
  • Knowledge of movement primitives and multi-objective optimization techniques.
  • Practical experience with industrial or collaborative robotic arms (e.g., UR, KUKA, ABB).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and ROS.
  • Experience working on interdisciplinary projects involving both technical and human-centered aspects of robotics.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out independent research, evidenced by publications in reputable journals or conferences.
