Automation Systems Specialist

Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Automation Systems Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and coordinating automation projects to ensure timely completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and participate in developing, enhancing, and maintaining manufacturing automation systems.">

Provide hands-on guidance, configuration, and programming of programmable logic controllers (PLC), human machine interfaces (HMI), and related process automation and control systems; support network communications and associated hardware.


Monitor and diagnose control and network hardware malfunctions.
Plan and lay out jobs from blueprints, CAD drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions.
Monitor and review hardware and software products relating to automation and information technologies, keeping current in technology trends.
Provide troubleshooting support plant-wide for manufacturing equipment, maintenance, and other key process owners.
Provide strategic input in capacity planning and prioritize activities in accordance with the needs of production.
Perform PLC hardware selection, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Manage PLC software licensing, development, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Oversee HMI software development, maintenance, and support.
Act as an instrumentation specialist (including installation, calibration, and PID tuning).
Work with AC/DC and servo drives.
Utilize robotic technology and teach pendants.
Maintain and troubleshoot control systems, including Industrial Computer Systems, Operating Systems, Software, and Ethernet Network.
Support internal departments with process knowledge and training.
Perform informal root cause failure analyses for equipment improvement opportunities.
Handle hydraulic and pneumatic control devices selection, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

Organize/update all control (electronic) backups of PLC code, panel views, instrumentation systems, drive parameters, and other necessary notes and procedures.

Maintain all process control development/test equipment, including PCs & laptops, test instruments, calibration equipment, software, and networks.
Train existing electrical (or regular maintenance) technicians as necessary.
Provide technical support to all internal departments.
Generate, edit, and publish AutoCAD drawings as necessary.
Effectively leverage external suppliers and system integrators for detailed design, build, and integration of early-stage process equipment/system implementation.
Support capital project management and possess general electrical and instrument calibration experience.
