Job Title: Production Technician

Connect Energy is seeking a highly skilled Production Technician to join our team at our LNG terminal. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our terminal processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine field inspections to ensure safe operating limits and identify potential issues.
  • Unload chemicals and utilities into receiving tanks, and perform jetty operations such as berthing in of vessels and operating marine loading arms.
  • Operate the Distributed Control System (DCS) to monitor and control the overall terminal process, and meet customers' gas nomination requests.
  • Maintain comprehensive unit logs and ensure proper changeover of shift, including any follow-up activities required.
  • Support other production activities, including vessel cool down, cold energy transfer, and LNG truck loading.
  • Perform troubleshooting on equipment and processes, and take corrective action to ensure unit and equipment are operated under safe and optimum conditions.
  • Secure and prepare equipment and work sites for maintenance work, and perform basic maintenance tasks such as strainer cleaning and flange make up.
  • Replenish process chemicals and additives, and review and issue permits to work after all safety checklists are completed.
  • Conduct periodic fugitive emission leak detection and execute immediate measures to minimize or eliminate leaks.
  • Supervise contractors executing approved works according to the established permit to work system.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of experience in oil, petrochemical, and refinery plant, utilities, and cryogenic processes.
  • Previous operations experience of LNG facilities is preferred, but transferable skills from other hydrocarbon processes or cryogenic products will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of plant instrumentation and control systems, and DCS is preferred.
  • Practical working knowledge of mechanical equipment, heat transfer equipment, cryogenic equipment, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, LNG tanks, fired equipment, and flare systems.
  • Experience in mechanical systems and process plants, knowledge of cryogenics, and aspects of the natural gas industry is preferred.
  • Experience in process plant safety, and permit to work issuing is preferred.
  • Experience in plant commissioning and start-up is preferred.
  • Personal attributes such as good listening skills, high self-motivation, and ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities and assignments.
Education:
  • NITEC certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Candidates with Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering will have an advantage.
