About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our Responsible AI team at GovTech. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing technical capabilities to ensure AI systems are safe, trustworthy, and ethical.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct end-to-end data science projects, from scoping, development, deployment, and monitoring
  • Develop and implement AI safety and fairness solutions, including LLM safety testing and fairness assessments
  • Collaborate with AI product teams and other public officers to ensure responsible AI practices are adopted across the organization
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in AI safety and fairness, and experiment with new open-source tools and methods to raise the level of AI safety and fairness in government AI systems
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with data science projects, including scoping, development, deployment, and monitoring
  • Strong technical understanding of LLMs, including how they work, prompt engineering, and building apps with them
  • Good understanding of key AI safety and fairness concepts, including operationalizing and applying them to AI systems
  • Competent in Python programming, with experience in cloud deployments for ML models and LLMs
  • Strong interest in AI safety and responsible AI, with a desire to read up independently on these areas and continuously explore and experiment
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and creative problem-solver
  • Desire to build tech for the public good
Preferred Qualifications
  • Informal or formal experience with LLM safety testing, including jailbreaking or prompt injections
  • Experience developing guardrails for LLMs or using equivalent tools
  • Experience with fairness assessments for AI systems
