Job Overview

In this position, you will oversee production activities, schedules, and workforce. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with established procedures, maintaining quality standards, and upholding safety protocols during assigned shifts. Your role will also involve fostering positive employee relations to enhance customer satisfaction and drive company profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead shift teams in the production of plant goods while adhering to high-quality and safety benchmarks.
  • Closely monitor production orders to stay updated on manufacturing progress and take necessary actions to meet schedules.
  • Advocate for and support site initiatives such as safety programs, lean methodologies, and training efforts, while consistently applying all policies and procedures among staff.
  • Suggest and implement strategies to motivate team members and encourage them to propose improvements in processes, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Regularly assess employee performance and identify training requirements. Provide coaching and guidance on performance, attendance, and conduct. Engage in resolving employee relations matters.
  • Review and validate work hours in the designated timekeeping system, ensuring accuracy in employee time records.
  • Adjust labor resources to meet production demands and manage available assets to guarantee timely fulfillment of customer orders.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), OSHA, and safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of work areas for safety hazards, cleanliness, and organization, generating work orders as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and other departments as needed.
  • Participate in special project teams as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as required based on business needs.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business-related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of experience in manufacturing, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR.

Preferred Skills and Attributes:

  • Capability to directly supervise hourly staff in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with all levels of staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
  • Commitment to understanding and complying with all relevant SOPs as they pertain to this role.
  • Contribute to Lean Sigma initiatives aimed at achieving set objectives.
  • Adhere to the company's safety and quality policies at all times.

Travel Requirements:

  • Not applicable.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Work within a manufacturing setting.
  • Minimal to no travel required.
  • Overtime and on-call duties may be necessary, with occasional shifts required.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to operate tools and controls. Frequent standing, talking, and listening for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision capabilities may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
