Occupational Therapist Role Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated occupational therapist to lead the development and delivery of occupational therapy services in a senior day rehabilitation setting. The ideal candidate will be committed to supporting elderly clients in maintaining their independence and daily activity abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' functional abilities and needs.
  • Develop and implement personalized therapy plans to enhance daily living skills and promote independence.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior therapists and therapy assistants, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Recommend and train clients in the use of assistive devices and adaptive techniques to improve quality of life.
  • Collaborate with physiotherapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Educate clients and caregivers on strategies to manage daily tasks safely and effectively, promoting healthy aging and independence.
  • Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and community outreach efforts to enhance service delivery and reach.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Full registration with the relevant health professions council.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of clinical experience, preferably in geriatric or community-based settings.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and leadership skills, with a passion for working with older adults.
