Job Title: Science Laboratory Technician

The Science Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning process in our science labs.

  • Lab Preparation: Assist teachers in preparing materials, apparatus, and science labs for conducting science experiments, including hydroponics systems, veggie towers, vermicomposting, and mushroom cultivation.
  • Lesson Assistance: Assist teachers in science-related activities in the lab during lessons and enrichment lessons if required.

Maintenance and Upkeep:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that science apparatus, equipment, and teaching resources are in serviceable conditions, reporting any damages to the relevant authorities.
  • Eco-Garden Administration: Administer the maintenance of the school eco-garden, reporting the conditions of plants to the relevant authorities. Arrange for feeding of fish in the pond at the eco-garden.
  • Hydroponics System Management: Administer the maintenance of the Hydroponics system, reporting any damages and faults to the relevant authorities.
  • Inventory Control: Assist in monitoring the inventory for science apparatus, equipment, and teaching resources.

Supporting School Events:

  • Event Support: Assist teachers in preparation of activities for the Science club and science-related events.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Qualifications: Full GCE 'N' or 'O' Level certificate or its equivalent.
  • Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills, good team player with high-level initiative, preferably certified in basic First Aid, CPR, and AED, preferably with relevant 5 years of work experience in primary school laboratories.
  • Preferred Skills: Previous experience with hydroponics, veggie towers, vermicomposting, and mushroom cultivation.

Working Arrangements:

Monday to Thursday: 8:30am to 6:00pm, Friday: 8:30am to 5:30pm, Services not required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays.
