Best Careers and Opportunities is seeking a highly skilled MS SQL DBA Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our SQL Server databases.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide MSSQL database administration services following standard team processes.
- Perform traditional DBA activities, including troubleshooting problems, working maintenance windows, and providing 24x7 on-call support on a rotational basis.
- Report patches required, perform patch testing, and roll out patches on production.
- Start up and shut down database instances, schedule jobs, and verify all instances and dependent services are running.
- Monitor session and process activity, query and transaction monitoring, lock and deadlock monitoring, activity and transaction log monitoring, and job monitoring and purging job history.
- Monitor replication and log shipping, space usage and growth of database objects, free space in file groups and databases, and transaction log growth and truncate schedules.
- Reorganize databases to remove fragmentation, update statistics for hot objects, and purge database logs and trace files.
- Schedule maintenance plans for maintenance like DBCC REINDEX and INDEX DEFRAG, create maintenance plans and jobs for update statistics and defragmentation, and manage user and schema creation, user management, roles and privileges management, and security policy violations.
- Verify database backup success, perform backup execution and monitoring, and drill to test and execute recovery in different recovery scenarios.
- Resolve database connectivity issues, slow response, operations timed out, database incidents and error resolution, and transaction log backup stuck for space.
- Manage vendor relationships, system performance monitoring, and maintaining environment details.
- At least 1.5+ years of SQL DBA experience.
- Fundamental knowledge of Windows Operating System.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server fundamentals.
- Knowledge of basic SQL statements, DB startup, shutdown, and DB sizing.
- SQL coding and tuning experience desired.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Prior experience in a 24x7 environment desired.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- MCSE MSSQL Certification is recommended.
- Knowledge of Log Shipping.
- Knowledge of any of the SQL server 2000, 2005, 2008 Versions.
