As a Career Development Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in helping students with special needs achieve their learning objectives. You will collaborate closely with teachers to design and develop specialized career pathways that cater to students' interests, preferences, and strengths.

  1. Design and maintain a continuum of work experiences for student profiles
  2. Source potential community and industry partners for relevant work-based opportunities
  3. Work with SPED teachers to co-plan and coordinate suitable work exposure activities
  4. Design, plan, and coordinate work experiences in school, community, and workplaces
  5. Administer matters related to students (insurance, work attachment allowances)
  6. Collaborate with teachers and Allied Health Professionals to deliver vocational guidance
  7. Identify suitable work experiences for students based on individual transition plans
  8. Develop and implement training plans for students on work-related skills
  9. Instruct students on community living skills, problem-solving skills, and functional literacy and numeracy
  10. Conduct ecological assessments of work sites and provide on-site training as needed
  11. Liaise with work site personnel to put in place job accommodations and modifications
  12. Assess, monitor, and evaluate students' progress and performance at Work Experience
  13. Share knowledge and insight on students' interests and work progress with the VE Team
  14. Provide feedback on students' progress to families and attend Transition Planning meetings
