Usher Position Summary

This is a part-time Usher position that requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting patrons in finding seats, lighting the way with flashlights if necessary, searching for lost articles or children, refusing admittance to undesirable persons, settling seating disputes, guiding patrons to exits or providing other instructions or assistance in case of emergency, examining and scanning tickets or passes, greeting patrons attending events, arriving on time in appropriate dress for scheduled shifts, attending Pre-Event briefings, ability and willingness to work any assignment, understanding and performing duties of assignment, monitoring physical surroundings for safety, cleanliness and functionality, responding quickly and courteously to patrons' needs, questions, comments, or concerns with answers and/or action, retrieving lost items at event's end and turning them in accordingly.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Able to provide accurate knowledge to patrons regarding venue logistics (i.e. location of Box Office, restrooms, F&B concessions, Cloak Room, etc)
  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs – up and down – to provide effective staff coverage in all areas of the theatres
  • Ability to stand for long periods, sometimes for the duration of an event
  • Commit to at least six months of service
