Job Opportunity: Satellite Autonomy Researcher

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in Autonomous & Intelligent Systems to join our team at the National University of Singapore. The ideal candidate will have a strong research background in satellite autonomy, on-board AI/edge computing, guidance, navigation and control.


Responsibilities:
  • Conduct original and impactful research in satellite autonomy, including on-board AI/edge computing, adaptive mission planning, and intelligent collision avoidance.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate proposed techniques using hardware- and software-in-the-loop verification and experimentation setups.
  • Disseminate research findings through high-quality journal and conference publications and contribute to competitive research grant proposals.
  • Supervise and mentor PhD students and Research Engineers in the group.
  • Engage actively in industry project meetings and foster collaboration with academic and industrial partners.

Requirements:
  • A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Intelligent Systems or a related field.
  • Strong research background in one or more of the following areas: autonomous systems, on-board AI/edge computing, guidance, navigation and control.
  • Proven track record of high-quality publications in leading journals and conferences.
  • Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink) and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, while also mentoring junior researchers and contributing to team-based projects.
  • Prior experience with satellite systems and deep knowledge of orbital mechanics are advantageous but not mandatory.
