Workplace Safety and Health Specialist

About the Job:

We are seeking an experienced Workplace Safety and Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compliance Management: Enforce compliance with Workplace Safety and Health Act and applicable regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.

  2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.

  3. Investigations and Corrective Actions: Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and recommend and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  4. Safety Program Development: Develop and implement workplace safety policies, procedures, and safety programs to promote a culture of safety within the organization.

  5. Training and Awareness: Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to educate employees on workplace safety best practices and ensure they have the necessary skills to perform their jobs safely.

  6. PPE and Equipment Management: Monitor and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety systems to prevent accidents and injuries.

  7. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare reports, maintain safety records, and submit required documentation to regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

  8. Liaison with Regulatory Agencies: Act as the key liaison with government agencies (e.g., MOM, NEA, SCDF) on WSH matters to ensure timely resolution of issues and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Construction Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction industry standards, practices, and regulations.

  • Risk Assessment and Management: Proven ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and develop effective mitigation strategies.

  • Investigation and Analysis: Strong investigative and analytical skills to lead incident investigations and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with employees, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

  • Leadership and Problem-Solving: Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills to develop and implement safety programs and resolve complex safety-related issues.
