About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team at Brightoil Petroleum (S'Pore) PTE. LTD. as a Legal Counsel- Intellectual Property. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all intellectual property matters, including the application, maintenance, and protection of patents, trademarks, and copyrights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on intellectual property issues to ensure the lawful protection of the company's innovative outputs.
  • Manage relationships with external lawyers and agencies to handle intellectual property-related disputes and litigation.
  • Develop and implement strategies for intellectual property protection to prevent potential infringements.
  • Ensure the company's compliance with relevant laws and regulations in data collection, processing, storage, and sharing.
  • Review and update data protection policies, identifying and mitigating legal risks related to data processing.
  • Collaborate with IT and data teams to implement best practices in data protection and conduct regular compliance audits.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contract terms related to intellectual property and data protection.
  • Provide training to company employees on intellectual property, data protection, and compliance-related matters.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Law with a valid legal practice qualification.
  • At least 5 years of experience in intellectual property and data compliance.
  • Familiarity with domestic and international intellectual property laws and data protection frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders on complex legal issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capability to work effectively under pressure.
