Job Title: Senior Process Safety Specialist
Our organization is seeking a seasoned Senior Process Safety Specialist to lead structured safety reviews, operational hazard studies, and process safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of occupational safety, environmental standards, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead structured safety reviews including risk assessments, operational hazard studies, and safety checks prior to commissioning of plant upgrades or new installations.
  2. Administer safe isolation and energy control procedures for critical equipment maintenance.
  3. Coordinate site walkdowns and completion punch lists to ensure system readiness before handover from construction contractors.
  4. Oversee early-phase planning and implementation of commissioning strategies for new facilities and equipment.
  5. Provide subject matter expertise on compliance frameworks, including occupational safety, environmental standards, and hazard mitigation measures.
  6. Advise on plant-level change management and review technical deviations from engineering and safety standards.
  7. Keep the organization up-to-date with new legislative changes related to safety and environment; assess potential operational impacts.
  8. Conduct and lead root cause investigations of safety events and environmental incidents, ensuring timely implementation of corrective measures.
  9. Support the design and execution of internal HSE audits, safety culture programs, and training workshops.
  10. Contribute to long-term safety strategy planning, focusing on reducing operational risks and improving workforce behavior and awareness.
  11. Take the lead in creating, revising, and implementing plant-specific safety procedures aligned with company and industry standards.
  12. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent application of safety practices across all departments.
  13. Champion environmental programs related to waste minimization, water efficiency, and emissions control.
  14. Manage routine monitoring of workplace exposures, including chemical agents and physical stressors, to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  15. Liaise with internal teams and external consultants for ongoing health surveillance and wellness compliance.

Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (preferred) with at least 5+ years of safety-related experience in a manufacturing or processing environment.
  2. Equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  3. Familiarity with internationally recognized standards such as ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and related Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  4. Proven expertise in process hazard studies, such as HAZOP or similar methodologies.
  5. Experience with chemical plant start-up and construction safety practices is highly desirable.
  6. Strong understanding of statutory regulations and operational risk assessment methods.
  7. Competence in incident investigation, with a structured approach to identifying contributing factors and implementing corrective actions.
  8. Analytical mindset with experience in trend analysis for safety performance metrics.
