Job Title: Procurement Director

Estimated Salary: SGD 120,000 - 180,000 per annum

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Director to join our team at FURUNO SINGAPORE PTE. LTD.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of procurement, ensuring optimal inventory management and reducing slow-moving items within the company.
  • Provide leadership in the procurement team, manage manpower planning, and build relationships with customers, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Establish and conduct regular reviews of procurement procedures and policies across relevant departments.
  • Work closely with other departments to plan and forecast demand for Furuno products, analyse trends, and update spreadsheets monthly.
  • Liaise with suppliers, especially Furuno HQ in Japan, to manage backorders and shipments, considering production and delivery delays.
  • Plan, source, and recommend suitable materials, products, goods, and services from local and overseas suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate purchase prices and payment terms, regularly reviewing cost-effectiveness and supplier performance.
  • Determine best purchase policies and select suitable suppliers for bulk purchases.
  • Ensure timely processing of purchase orders, coordinate delivery schedules, and check product quality upon delivery.
  • Minimize material freight expenses, ensure cost-down and localization of parts without compromising quality.
  • Maintain a centralized database of suppliers and vendors, manage vendor qualification, and monitor contract progress.
  • Conduct periodic inventory control checks to ensure consistency between internal records and master stock data, reporting irregularities immediately.
  • Resolve any issues or non-compliance with suppliers and vendors concerning purchase orders, payments, or conditions.
Requirements:
  • Bilingual in Japanese and English is essential.
  • Knowledge of logistics and international shipping is required.
  • Familiarity with PSI management and operations processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and judgment in selecting methods and techniques.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Minimum Degree in business or a related field with at least 8 years of related working experience.
  • 5-10 years of related working experience, preferably in sales, marketing, procurement, logistics, or warehouse management.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience, overseas working experience, including in Japan, is an advantage.
