Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Automation Specialist to join our team at Panasonic Asia Pacific Pte Ltd. As an Electrical Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for developing innovative manufacturing equipment that efficiently and safely mass-produce attractive Panasonic products in Southeast Asian countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage whole project across multiple countries to develop new automation equipment from the electrical engineer's point of view
  • Analyse manufacturing line issues and define requirements for new manufacturing equipment in collaboration with factory members in each country
  • Propose a cost-effective equipment layout and structure that meet the required specifications as a conceptual design, and enhance it to a more complete concept through discussions with related parties
  • Converting the equipment concept into a concrete electrical design with our partner drafters or subcontractors
  • Discuss equipment control concepts and electrical design with mechanical engineers or subcontractors to ensure easy-to-use, safe, and reliable equipment
  • Analyse technical problems and find solutions during equipment manufacturing, on-site installation together with project members
  • Guarantee equipment quality and customer support after equipment installation
  • Pursue continuous improvement of automation equipment while incorporating the latest technology in a constantly changing technological environment
  • Develop & manage supplier/equipment vendor as part of overall operation for both Asia Pacific & Japan Panasonic Group
  • Plan & execute a program for training automation engineers in factories as a regional headquarter
  • Some level of administrative work required as part of internal & HQ reporting

Requirements

  • At least Diploma and above in Electrical / Manufacturing Engineering/ Computer science
  • 5 to 10 years extensive experience in automation / equipment industries
  • Working experience with
  • Equipment electrical circuit design
  • Creation of electrical design specifications
  • Creation of system specification
  • Creation of control design specification
  • Creation of vision processing specification
  • Robot integration including robot programming (Single axis, Scara, 6 axis)
  • Vision inspection integration
  • Experience in specification negotiations with contractors and equipment vendors, as well as design guidance and installation guidance
  • Sufficient understanding of electronic elements, how to select them and installation methods including wiring work
  • Ability to understand and make electrical circuit design drawings
  • Ability to make and modify PLC program
  • Ability to understand manufacturing process
  • Must have strong willingness to take on the challenge of innovating conventional manufacturing by continuously learning new things such as AI, predictive maintenance, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work proactively, to identify issues and propose better solutions
  • Ability to plan ahead, prioritise tasks and coordinate with the work of others
  • A well-rounded mix of experimental, theoretical and design skills
  • Able to use CAD system (AutoDesk/Inventor, Solid works)
  • Basic PC knowledge (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
  • Good IT knowledge and experience in OT environment (manufacturing) is an advantage. (e.g. Data collection from equipment, Visualization & analysis of data and Utilization of AI for inspection etc.)
  • Willingness and ability to travel overseas frequently to manage international suppliers; e.g. Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, China, etc. (few days to a month)
  • A team player who can work closely with internal and external stakeholders to lead the project to success
  • Honest work ethic and good communication skills to build relationships of trust with stakeholders

Language

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Ability to understand Chinese/Malay/Japanese (Written and oral) is an advantage
